Walpole Little League’s summer programs offers a competitive baseball experience for players who want to continue developing skills in a travel league format. Teams are entered in leagues based on age and skill. It is understood that players sometimes travel during the summer but interested players should understand that participation is expected.
Age 8, Friendship League
Summer 8-year-old players participate in the Friendship league, which includes numerous towns in the South Shore area. This kid pitch league starts in late June and typically extends through late July. Games are mostly on weeknights and each team will participate in at least one weekend tournament. Sportsmanship and fair play are emphasized, though winning is the ultimate goal.
Ages 9 – 12, Suburban League
Suburban League games start in late June and extend into late July / early August depending on participation in playoffs. Games are typically on weeknights, though weekend nights are occasionally used. Each team is guaranteed at least one weekend tournament and many teams will participate in additional tournaments. Teams are age and skill specific: there is one A team at the 9 & 10 year old levels and two A teams at the 11 & 12 year old levels. There are also multiple B teams at every level (dependent upon the number of registrants). Participating towns are from the Metrowest and South Shore areas. It is a highly competitive league where competition and winning are prioritized.
Ages 11 & 12, Williamsport Tournament
This elite tournament features an American League & National League team from Walpole, each comprised of the most skilled players from the Major League spring season chosen by peers and coaches. Initial district, state and regional tournaments lead to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. See the Williamsport Selection Process page for additional information.
