Dear Parents:

Welcome to the upcoming 2013 Walpole Little League season; it will not be long before skates and skis are replaced by bats and gloves.

As the incoming president of the League, I wanted to wish you a happy New Year and inform you about a few things:

  • First and foremost, I want to thank and recognize the contributions of three of our outgoing Board members.  Eric Kraus (president), Paul Prata (vice president) and Bob Wolpe (treasurer) have all retired from being officers of the Board.  With more than 30 years of combined involvement in the League, and endless contributions, they will be greatly missed.

  • Joining the board this year will be Mike Panciocco (vice president), Marc Schultz (treasurer), Amy Cofsky (secretary) and Jona Kee (webmaster). We are all looking forward to continuing the legacy that has been left by our predecessors.

  • To structure Walpole Little League similarly to the other towns in our district, we are combining the International and Minor Leagues and creating a new Triple-A League. Players, ages 9-11, including those 10- and 11-year-olds who do not get drafted into the Majors, will now play together in an expected 12-15 team League.  No changes are being made to either the Majors or Pee-Wees Leagues.

  • On-line registration for the spring season is now open.  Please visit www.walpolelittleleague.com and register your child.  All players must be registered before they can either tryout (Majors) or be placed on a team.  As we did last year, for those parents with children playing in the Majors, there is an option to opt-out of working in the snackbar, so please look for that if interested.

  • Note the following dates, April 28th…we are working with town officials to hold our annual Little League Parade and picture day and Major League try-outs around mid-March.  We will keep the website updated as we get closer to these dates.

I look forward to an exciting season and we’ll see you on the field!

Sincerely,

James Kral
President
